NuroPicks Onboarding (Week 1)
You finished the Quickstart. Now the habit. This is the arc that turns a poke around into a daily loop and gets you fluent in what the picks are actually saying.
21+ only. Virtual bankroll only during alpha. Not financial advice. 1-800-GAMBLER.
The 7-day arc
A rough sequence, not a script. Fall behind by a day or two, it does not matter, just do not skip day 3 or day 5 since those are where most testers bail.
Day 1: Quickstart already covered this
The /daily + /picks + /bet + /mybets loop. If you did not run it, open docs/QUICKSTART.md first.
Day 2: Learn to read a pick
Every NuroPicks embed uses the same 4 factor structure. Pull one /picks today and read the whole card, top to bottom:
- Edge: where our model number differs from consensus. Example, "+4 vs implied 50/50".
- Signal: which features drove the pick. Recent form, rest, matchup split, injury news, travel, pace.
- Context: the bigger picture the signal sits inside. Playoff pressure, back to back, division rival, weather, referee crew.
- Risk: what breaks the pick. If this happens, fade the lean.
If any of those 4 blocks is missing on an embed, that is a bug. Ping in #alpha-feedback with the screenshot.
Day 3: Build the streak
Run /daily before bed so the streak counter ticks over at midnight UTC while you sleep. The base payout is 50 credits, and the streak bonus scales to a +100 cap at day 10. Check your position with /streak.
Miss a day, the counter resets to 1. The win here is not the credits. The win is that a 10-day streak proves to you that the daily loop is actually a habit and not just a novelty you tried once.
If you know you are going to be offline tomorrow, run /daily anyway today. You only need one claim per UTC day.
Day 4: Try one virtual parlay and one /predict
Single leg bets are the workhorse. Today is the expand-the-surface day.
/parlaybuilds a multi leg ticket. Lock 2 or 3 legs from today's slate, keep the total virtual stake under 5% of your roll. Parlays are higher variance by design; the/parlaycommand flags correlated legs so you do not double count the same edge./predictruns a single game win probability read. Use it on a game you already have an opinion on and see how the model's number compares to yours. The delta teaches you where your priors are sharp and where they are off.
Log how both felt in #alpha-feedback. Parlay UX and /predict surfacing are both still tuning.
Day 5: Level up
XP shows on your /profile. Level 1 is a free baseline. Levels go 1 to 100 and unlock features as you climb. The specific thresholds shift between cycles while we tune, so the bot is the source of truth. Run /profile and the command will show your current unlocks and the next one you are progressing toward.
XP comes from picks, parlays, duels, referrals, and quiz passes (table below). You are not grinding it, you are accumulating it as a byproduct of using the product. If you have been running the daily loop you already have a level.
Day 6: Course module
Run /quiz and pick a module. 13 quiz modules are live (basics, bankroll, odds, strategy, responsible, embed, lineshop, market, clvmath, kelly, parlays, markettypes, linemove). KnowUp bot delivers the Betting 101 text lessons alongside.
Pass one module today. It is 10 minutes, you earn XP, and the terms you meet there (Kelly, CLV, implied probability, closing line value, variance) are the same ones the pick embeds use. Skipping the course and then asking what "CLV factor" means on the leaderboard is the most common day 7 confusion.
Day 7: Review and leaderboard peek
Run /mybets and scroll. How many picks landed, how many whiffed, where were the biggest misses. Do not read it like a scorecard, read it like a log. You are looking for patterns, not a verdict.
Then /leaderboard. You will not be on it yet (25 pick minimum, you are probably at 10 to 15 if you ran a pick a day). Read the top 5 anyway. Look at their ROI and volume split. That is the shape of a sharp week, not the shape of a hot week.
How XP works (short version)
| Action | XP |
|---|---|
| /picks run | +25 |
| /parlay lock | +30 |
| /duel win | +50 |
| /duel loss | +25 |
| Referred a friend | +100 (them: +50) |
| /daily claim | scales with streak |
| /quiz module pass | see /quiz |
Levels are 1 to 100. Badges unlock independently of level (On Fire, Streak Master, Champion, Sharp, OG, Whale, Sniper). Run /profile for your current level, XP to next level, and badge case.
The leaderboard (read this once, move on)
Composite score = ROI x log(volume) x CLV factor. Minimum 25 picks to appear. Volume is log scaled so that 500 random low stake picks cannot drown out 30 sharp plays.
Do not chase leaderboard position during week 1. Build your own 25 pick baseline first.
Picks literacy
The picks are model output, not gospel. A 58% confidence lean is still a 42% lose rate. Flat unit sizing or quarter Kelly keeps you alive through the variance. The /bankroll command calculates both.
/bankroll showfor current balance./bankroll monthly+/bankroll quarterlyfor trend windows.- Never more than 5% of roll on one lean, even at 80%+ confidence. Build the habit now; it matters the minute real money is live.
Cold streaks
You will have a 0 for 6 day. Everyone does. Two rules:
- Do not change size on tilt. Stick to flat unit or quarter Kelly. A 30% losing stretch is inside variance for any model running in the mid 50s hit rate.
- Do not stop logging. Cold streaks are where CLV tracking pays off. If your closing line value was positive on the losing picks, the model was right and the results were variance.
/mybetsshows CLV per pick.
If 2 full slates in a row feel like tilt, /self-exclude 7 and come back fresh.
Responsible gambling (longer version)
Prewrite the response before you need it.
- Lock yourself out with
/self-exclude 7|30|90|365for a cooldown. No overrides, no staff exceptions. - Use
/reportif you see another user going too hard. Staff routes it without shaming either side. - Warning signs to catch early: betting to recover a loss, chasing size on a tilt day, hiding wagers from a partner, borrowing to fund a roll, skipping sleep for a slate.
- If any 2 of the above hit in one week, self exclude this weekend.
- 1-800-GAMBLER (US), Canada Safer Gambling Line, UK GamCare, Australia Gambling Help Online, Europe EUCGC.
This is not the fine print. This is the feature.
Community norms
- #alpha-feedback is prod signal, not chat. Bugs, confusing copy, a pick that felt off, flag it.
- #picks channels are for plays, not debates. Debates go in #discussion.
- No public picks leaking until David greenlights the public launch. Alpha = inner circle.
- No scam DMs. If you get one,
/report user:@them, ban on sight.

When you hit a wall
- Bot bug: #alpha-feedback (include the embed attachment, the command you ran, rough time).
- Doc wrong: ping David (
<@872820240139046952>). Corrections ship within a cycle. - Broken pick math: also #alpha-feedback with
/mybetsscreenshot. Mar has framework authority on the Bet On Command side.
After week 1
By day 7 you should have:
- 25+ tracked picks (leaderboard eligibility).
- A baseline level on
/profile. - 1+ course module passed.
- A
/self-excludecooldown you have set at least once (even 7 days, even just to feel the UX; do it during the week 1 slower window so you get the reflex before you need it).
Once those 4 are done, onboarding is over. You are a NuroPicks user.
